If there is one houseplant that has inspired generation after generation of indoor gardeners, then it has to be the ever popular, and easy to grow, Swiss Cheese Plant, also known as Monstera deliciosa.
With glossy, rich green leaves with irregular holes, these plants trail gently over their pot if left untrained or can be treated as climbers and tied to supports.
The tropical leaves are what make these plants star performers, adding a lush and exotic feel to any room. It is truly fascinating to watch young leaves as they emerge tightly furled, growing longer each day before opening fully. Young leaves are solid, but as the plants mature they begin to develop characteristic holes, just like a piece of cartoon cheese.
Naturally lazy climbers, your plants will enjoy the support of moss poles (not supplied) where you can push the aerial roots into the moss as they develop, helping to support further growth.
Natives to tropical rainforests, Swiss Cheese Plants are easy to keep happy - we recommend placing them in bright, but not direct, sunlight indoors and mist the leaves regularly to provide humidity - plus they will appreciate an occasional leaf-wipe to remove dust and restore that eye-catching glossy sheen.
Supplied as a set of six established plants in 6cm pots.
The leaves of Monstera deliciosa are toxic so keep away from pets and children
