Description

A real gem of a shrub, for glorious golden-yellow cheerfulness in your garden – and being evergreen, it keeps its lovely foliage colour all year round.

A low-maintenance, drought-resistant and slow-growing hardy shrub, 'Sundance' forms a dome of glossy, bright yellow-green foliage and in spring produces small clusters of white, star-shaped flowers that have a delightful citrus-like fragrance – hence its common name of 'Mexican Orange Blossom'.

Use it as a specimen plant on its own or in the middle or back of a mixed border where it will contrast with darker foliage of other hardy perennials. It is an ideal choice for complementing shades of lavender and blue. Alternatively, place it in a container on your patio, where it will form an attractive rounded clump of golden leaves.

Fully deserving of its coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure that this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come.

Supplied as an established plant in a 15cm pot ready for planting out or potting up, you can expect your Choisya 'Sundance' to grow to 1.5 x 1.5m in 10 years.

Top Tips
  • Choisya ternata 'Sundance' can be grown in full sun, but opt for an area of light or dappled shade to ensure the leaves retain the best of their colour.

Care Information
  • Pot-grown shrubs can be planted at any time of the year as long as the soil is not waterlogged or frozen. If in doubt, err towards spring, but remember to keep pots well-watered so that the soil does not dry out.
  • Plants will thrive in sun although for best results, plant Choisya 'Sundance' in part-shade in fertile, well-drained soil.
  • Dig a hole twice the width of the rootball. Sprinkle in a handful of blood, fish and bone and work into the ground. If your soil is heavy, add plenty of well-rotted compost to the area and dig it in well.
  • Place the plant into the hole, backfilling so that it is at the same depth as it was in the pot. Fill around the rootball and firm the soil down gently but firmly.
  • Water well, and then regularly and deeply until established.
  • Prune established plants in summer, immediately after flowering, to maintain a compact and bushy shape and also to encourage a second flush of flowers in late summer and autumn.

Delivery Information

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. Pre-ordered items will be sent as soon as possible after the date quoted and we'll generally ship your entire order with your pre-ordered items. When your order is dispatched, we'll send you another email with details of how to track it.

Most orders are sent on a fully-tracked courier service with Yodel. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, no signature is required, and our courier is asked to leave your order in a safe place on your property.

We'll send a tracking link when we dispatch your order, so you know when its due to arrive. Please note, once delivered we cannot be held responsible for loss or theft from your property. If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please note, we cannot guarantee delivery on a certain day or time. Delivery to outlying postcode areas may take 1-2 days longer, dependent on your location.
