Product Information

Craft a shrubbery display to be proud of with the many outstanding features of Leycesteria ‘Golden Lanterns'. There is plenty to see on this hardy, deciduous, and quick-to-grow shrub.

Foliage appears from spring with arching stems that hold golden green leaves, which are particularly soft – give them a touch! Moving into the warmer months of summer, clumps of dangling flowers emerge with maroon and white petals facing down to the base of the plant, closely joined by dark purple berries when autumn rolls around.

A true treat for garden wildlife, birds will love the fragrant berries, while the foliage offers first class ground coverage.

Fully deserving its coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come.

Supplied as an established plant in a 3L pot, ready for planting.

Top Tips

Planted near paths and doorways or at the front of borders where it is easy to enjoy the colour when in flower.

Care Information

  • Plants will thrive in a sunny or part-shaded location with well-drained soil. They don't like dry roots, so water regularly and deeply.
  • Dig a hole twice the width of the root-ball. Sprinkle in a handful of blood, fish and bone and work into the ground.
  • If your soil is heavy add plenty of well-rotted compost to the area and dig it in well. Horticultural sand/grit added to the mix is also beneficial.
  • Place the plant into the hole, back-filling so that it is at the same depth as was in the pot. Fill around the root ball and firm the soil down gently but firmly and water well.
  • Grafted plants should be planted with the join a couple of centimetres below the soil level.
  • Where necessary after flowering, lightly trim to remove misplaced branches and maintain a compact habit, otherwise a quick clear-up of fallen leaves will suffice.
