Product Information

Craft a flashy and romantic display to be proud of with the outstanding contrasting foliage to floral shades of ‘Minor Black’, now grafted into a standard tree.

Typically seen as a popular garden shrub, this unique standard boasts glossy dark purple leaves in a head of foliage.

Funnel-shaped, deep pink flowers emerge from the dark foliage to coat the plant during that sweet spot in late spring, into early summer, when many of us spend ample time in our gardens.

What’s more, the nectar-rich nature of the blooms ensure they are incredibly attractive to pollinators, including bees and butterflies, transforming your garden into a haven of wildlife.

Hardy in nature and very easy to grow, either plant this standard tree directly into the ground or use it to add height and structure to pathways or borders.

Supplied as an established plant in a 19cm pot, 50cm in height, with a grafted head on top.

What Is Supplied

Item 511536 supplied as:
1 x 19cm Pot

Top Tips

To keep your standard tree looking at its best, remove any side shoots (laterals) from the trunk of the young tree in the winter. Any weak or competing shoots can also be removed from the top of the tree if needed.

Care Information

  • By keeping your standard tree in its pot, you can limit its size and keep it manageable. Spring is the best time to repot potted standards.
  • Repot your standard tree every other year. Use the same pot if you want to keep it at its current size, or up to 5cm bigger is you would like to grow it on a bit more.
  • Remove the plant from its pot and trim off any rotten roots or roots that are winding around the outside of the root ball.
  • Cut away the bottom one-third of the root ball using a pruning saw and replant using fresh potting soil or compost.
