Product Information

Waxflowers are beautiful evergreen shrubs with origins far away - in its native Australia! Also known as a Chamelaucium, this evergreen shrub boasts a spreading habit and produces dark green leaves that retain an impressive colour through the year.

Narrow foliage acts as a perfect backdrop for superb pink blooms, stretching from spring to summer and adding a reliable 'pop' of colour to beds, borders, and containers - or just about wherever you plant it! Delicate and dainty flowers have a waxy texture and emerge in clusters with darker centres, creating a real showstopping display.

What's more, the blooms make beautiful cut flowers, lasting for a week or two when snipped and included in a fresh flower display in a vase.

Supplied as an established plant in a 17cm pot, ready to plant.

Top Tips

Grow your Waxflower in poor, free-draining soil, and position in sheltered but sunny location.

Care Information

  • Dig a planting hole three times the width of the roots of the shrub you're planting and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once the shrub is in place.
  • We've found that a square hole is better than a round one as the new roots, once they reach the edges tend to grow in a circle round the circumference of the hole whereas when they reach the corners of a square hole, they find it easier to grow through.
  • Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain.
  • Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.
  • Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.
  • Place your shrub in the hole at the same level at the pot. Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).
  • Firm in the soil with your palm, avoiding the root ball and water well.
  • Keep plants well-watered until established.

Winter Care

  • This semi-hardy Waxflower will not survive the frosts of winter.
  • For best chance of survival, plant in a container and place it in a sunny and sheltered spot in summer, before moving to the protection of a greenhouse or conservatory from autumn until all risk of frosts have passed.
