Description

The Florist’s Favourite That Flowers. And Flowers. And Then Flowers Some More!

From May to October, that’s how long Alstroemeria Indian Summer’ flowers. Not in flushes, not with gaps, just a continuous, blazing relay of amber and gold blooms that simply refuses to stop.

And here’s the thing florists already know: cut a few stems and bring them indoors and they’ll last for weeks in a vase. Fresh flowers from your own garden, all summer long. AND year after year!

What makes it truly special though is what’s happening even before the flowers open. That deep, bronze-dark foliage is striking enough to earn its place on its own, and when the blooms arrive blazing above it, the combination is genuinely unlike anything else in the garden.

Sunny, well-drained spots suit it perfectly, whether in a border, a large pot, or pride of place on the patio. Wherever you plant it, those warm glowing colours will stop you in your tracks every single time you walk past.

Fully winter hardy, the stunning blooms return every spring without fail, bigger and better each year.

Supplied as a set of three jumbo plug plants, ready to grow on and plant out.

Top Tips
Young plants are best left undisturbed to form clumps; mulch for the first two winters - about 6-8 inches.
When picking alstroemeria pluck the flowers rather than cutting as plucking stimulates the rhizome encourage further growth.
Care Information
  • Pot up Alstroemeria plants and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors.
  • When all risk of frost has passed, plant Peruvian Lilies in a sunny or semi shaded position, or in patio containers in a soil-based compost.
  • Water 'Indian Summer' regularly and feed container-grown plants with a general-purpose feed each month.
  • In autumn, cut back old Alstroemeria flower stems and apply a dry mulch of chipped bark or straw to protect the rhizomes.
  • Although Alstroemeria prefers to be left undisturbed, large clumps can be divided in spring.
Delivery Information

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. Pre-ordered items will be sent as soon as possible after the date quoted and we'll generally ship your entire order with your pre-ordered items. When your order is dispatched, we'll send you another email with details of how to track it.

Most orders are sent on a fully-tracked courier service with Yodel. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, no signature is required, and our courier is asked to leave your order in a safe place on your property.

We'll send a tracking link when we dispatch your order, so you know when its due to arrive. Please note, once delivered we cannot be held responsible for loss or theft from your property. If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.
