Product Information

An exciting and captivating rose, the aptly named 'Abracadabra' will give your garden, patio or balcony the wow-factor that you've been looking for! Covered in large, double blooms of luxurious velvet-red broadly streaked with shades of yellow, this is a unique rose bush, quite unlike any other.

As well as the striking flowers, 'Abracadabra' is blessed with a light perfume, giving you even more pleasure as you study its beautiful blooms, each one a different tapestry of colour and tone - you'll be spellbound!

This vigorous and long flowering shrub rose has good disease resistance and relatively few thorns (although not thornless) and is ideal for growing both in the garden or in a container on your deck, patio or balcony as long as it receives a good amount of sunshine. The mesmerising blooms contrast beautifully with its glossy green leaves, making a real eye-catching feature plant.

A member of the floribunda family of roses, Abracadabra has an attractive upward, bushy habit, and its remarkable flowers are produced in clusters from April until the first frosts, so you'll get months of colour and ample opportunity to fill a vase with the glorious blooms.

We supply a single bare root rose bush, ready for immediate planting. Eventual height and width 70-90cm (2-3ft).

What Is Supplied

Item 530316 supplied as:
Supplied as a grower quality bare-root bush. Grows to 1m tall.
  • The amount of growth on Potted roses will vary at different times of year, depending on when they are potted.
  • Potted roses will be Freshly potted from November to February, so are not fully rooted through.
  • They will have new shoots beginning in March and April.
  • They will be in leaf and then buds May and June.
  • They will be in flower June and July.
  • From August onwards they may be trimmed back, ready to plant and burst back into life the next season.
  • From the end of September your rose has received its trim which will help it to have stronger roots and better form next year.

Top Tips

  • To prune, just remove any dead, dying, damaged and diseased stems and also deadhead regularly. Traditionally, you would cut just above a leaf joint with a sloping cut away from the bud, however, this isn't necessary, and don’t worry about pruning too much - roses are very resilient and will grow back.
When pruning, make sure that your secateurs are clean and sharp to prevent squashing stems and introducing disease.
  • Add mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help the plant establish quicker.

Care Information

  • Roses can be planted at any time of the year, as long as the soil is not frozen, waterlogged or drought-dry.
  • Plant your rose where it can get plenty of sun for at least half of the day, and where it will be sheltered from the wind.
  • Roses tolerate wide range of soils but thrive in deep, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, so add plenty of well-rotted manure into the hole if necessary and plant so that the graft union (the swollen area when the stems meet the roots) is around 3cm below soil level. Water well every other day - daily if the weather is hot and dry.
  • Established roses can be watered around once a week through spring and summer - more if the weather is hot.
  • For best results, feed roses in in late-March/April and again late July.
