Product Information

Narcissus 'Pheasant's Eye' is a stunning late-flowering variety of daffodil that provides gorgeous displays in any spring garden.

A real British favourite, Daffodils blowing in the breeze are a true sign that spring is here, and with a distinctive flower and sweet scent they really are a must-have.

'Pheasant's Eye' is more than 100 years old, and it is no wonder this old favourite is still just as popular as ever. Flowering all the way into June, its elegant white flowers each boast a small red and yellow cup.

Wonderfully versatile, this variety will look right at home whether plant in pots, containers or straight into the ground. Get planting in autumn for a fantastic display the following spring! So easy to grow, plant in groups of 6-10 for maximum impact, in full sun or semi-shade, either on their own or with other spring-flowering bulbs of different colours for an eye-catching display.

Fully deserving its coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure that this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come.

Harmful if eaten/skin irritant

Top Tips

  • For a natural look, throw a handful onto a grassy area and plant them where they fall.
  • Which way up? Usually pointy end up, but if you are not sure, plant the bulb on its side and it will right itself.
  • Add mycorrhizal fungi to the roots before planting to encourage faster and more reliable establishment.
  • Propagate by removing offsets in the early summer to populate new areas.

Care Information

Planting advice for your bulbs:

  • Plant 10-15cm deep and 10cm apart in sun or partial shade, in well-drained, fertile soil.
  • Spring-flowering bulbs should be planted in the autumn for displays next season. This allows them to establish a good root system before the weather becomes too cold.
  • Please check the bag for any additional planting instructions.
  • Use a good-quality potting compost such as our premium professional compost for the best results.
  • The bulbs are fine to plant even if a little green growth is showing; they will just need a good watering when you plant them, and thereafter only when the soil is dry.
  • Plant in herbaceous borders, in pots, or in the ground to naturalise.

Aftercare advice for your bulbs:

  • Water frequently and if in pots, ensure that the compost doesn't dry out.
  • While all the energy that a bulb needs in order to grow is stored in the bulb itself, they will do better if you feed them when in active green growth.
  • Leave foliage to die back naturally after flowering; never tie up the foliage or cut it back while still green. This allows as much energy as possible to go back into the bulbs for the following year.
  • Leave them in the ground once they die back and they will come back with bigger and better displays each year.
