Allium 'Bulgaricum' is a real showpiece in the early summer garden. It’s one of those plants that makes people stop and ask, “What is that?”
What sets this variety apart is its astonishing flower form. You get tall, elegant stems that rise above the border and hold these beautiful drooping bell-shaped blooms. They are creamy green with touches of purple and dusky pink.
But it’s not just a looker. This is a tough, reliable perennial bulb that comes back year after year. It’s incredibly drought tolerant once established, thrives in a wide range of soils, and needs hardly any attention. And here’s the bonus, it’s a magnet for bees and butterflies, labelled a 'Plant for Pollinators' by the RHS.
Remarkable at the back of a border, through ornamental grasses, and even in gravel gardens where it really shines. It grows to about 90cm tall and flowers from late spring to early summer, filling that important early season gap when other spring bulbs are fading and the big summer performers haven’t kicked off yet.
Plant these bulbs in groups of five or more for best effect, and they’ll naturalise beautifully over time.
If you’re after something low maintenance, different from the usual garden centre fare, and genuinely rewarding to grow, we can’t recommend this enough.
Supplied as 15 bulbs, size 10+, ready for autumn planting.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.
Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.
