Description

These superb evergreen Eucalyptus have been skilfully fashioned into standard trees by expert nurserymen to give superb plants that grace a sunny border or large patio pots. Attractive through the year, but best in spring and summer as fresh new leaves emerge, deepening from grey green to a bluer shade as the waxy patina develops. The mature stems are an additional attraction as the grey bark naturally peels revealing creamy paler layers beneath.

These hardy trees will withstand the worst of weather, making beautiful permanent features in your garden. Prune in early spring as this will encourage the attractive young foliage to develop.

Fully deserving the coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure that this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come.

Top Tips
Cut back hard every few years to maintain shape.
Care Information

Planting Advice:

  • Eucalyptus is best grown in full sun with shelter from strong winds when they are young.
  • Pot-grown plants can be planted at any time of the year as long as the soil is not waterlogged or frozen. If in doubt, err towards spring but remember to keep pots well-watered so that the soil does not dry out.
  • Dig a planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once the plant is in place.
  • Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain. Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.
  • Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.
  • Place your shrub in the hole at the same level at the pot, then refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling). Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball. Water well.

Pruning Advice:

  • Prune in early spring to maintain the shape.
  • In the second or third spring, cut back to 60-90cm (2-3ft) from the ground for pollards or 5-7.5cm (2-3in) for coppiced plants.
  • Pinch side shoots to encourage further branching.
  • In subsequent years, cut back annually or every few years to the previous stubs.
  • Apply a balanced general-purpose fertiliser each spring.
Delivery Information

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. Pre-ordered items will be sent as soon as possible after the date quoted and we'll generally ship your entire order with your pre-ordered items. When your order is dispatched, we'll send you another email with details of how to track it.

Most orders are sent on a fully-tracked courier service with Yodel. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, no signature is required, and our courier is asked to leave your order in a safe place on your property.

We'll send a tracking link when we dispatch your order, so you know when its due to arrive. Please note, once delivered we cannot be held responsible for loss or theft from your property. If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please note, we cannot guarantee delivery on a certain day or time. Delivery to outlying postcode areas may take 1-2 days longer, dependent on your location.
