Product Information

Ornamental grass-like plants with dramatic outstretching leaves that remain full of colour through the year. Also known as Carex Elata Aurea, these yellowy green grasses bring year-round life into the garden.

The colour of the bushy leaves contrasts perfectly against the long spikes of brown plume-like flowers that rise high from late spring to early summer, for an extra layer of intrigue.

Lift those partially shaded garden spaces with the unique and bright arching leaves of these hardy perennials, which thrive and survive come rain or shine.

As semi-evergreen dwarf sedges, these will retain impressive foliage colour through the year in most conditions, perfect for plugging gaps in borders or for decorating quaint waterside spots.

Fully deserving the coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure these are proven garden performers, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant these in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come.

Supplied as a set of three established plants in 9cm pots, ready for planting.

Top Tips

Clumps can be dug up and divided in autumn or spring to give you more plants.

Care Information

  • Before planting, prepare the soil by digging over and removing any weeds. Incorporate some well-rotted manure to enrich the soil if necessary.
  • When planting multiple, arrange them on the surface so you can see how they will look once in place.
  • Individually knock out each plant from its container. Look at the roots – if they are circling around the compost, it is best to tease them out. To do this, push your fingers into the rootball along the bottom edge and pull. Do this in a couple of places to encourage the roots to spread into the surrounding soil once in the ground.
  • Next use a trowel or spade to create a hole just deep and wide enough to set in the rootball. Aim to bury just the roots, leaving either the bases of the stems above ground when planted in summer, or the shoots if planted in spring.
  • Firm back around the soil using your hand for small clumps and your heel for larger areas.
  • Water in well to settle the soil.
